The Museum of the Cariboo Chilcotin to Start a Lottery Project

The Museum of the Cariboo Chilcotin looks to relocate with the help of a lottery project.

Williams Lake City Council will be giving its letter of support to help the project move forward.

“Our goal is to become the Cariboo Heritage Lottery, and that would include a lot, a house, a truck, to gift someone a permanent retirement home and we’d sell them just like you would for the children’s hospital.” says Laura Zimmerman, President and Chair of the Museum of the Cariboo Chilcotin.

Zimmerman says the current location they’re in (basement of the Tourism Discovery Centre) doesn’t give them a third of the space they need for their displays.

Some of the items that are needed for the museum are being stored somewhere else, which can pose as a risk for them.

As for the relocation, Zimmerman is in talks with Suncor to figure out the location. So far, there are four locations in mind.
