Quesnel Kangaroos are looking for financial help in hosting the Coy Cup

The Quesnel Kangaroos have asked the North Cariboo Joint Planning Committee for some financial help in hosting this year’s Coy Cup.

Team President Waylon L’Heureux had a couple of suggestions.

“We’re just looking for a bit of help on the financial side of the burden to host the Coy Cup. Some reduced ice time costs for the Coy Cup and to waive our advertising fee for the year would help.”

L’Hereux says there are some added costs in hosting the tournament.

“We have to pay for the travel for the other teams that come here, and the hotel rooms, and food costs at a set rate decided by BC Hockey.”

He says they lost money during the COVID year when they were supposed to host the Coy Cup.

“We didn’t receive any money for advertising that year because the league was cancelled the following year, and then we also had some burdens because we had paid for everything like all the merchandise and all that kind of stuff, all the planning and stuff.”

L’Hereux says they also hoping to hang all of their banners from previous championships during the tournament.
