Williams Lake Council Putting in Application for Wildfire Risk Reduction

Williams Lake City Council approved of two grant applications involving fire safety.

The grant will look to go towards helping communities closer to areas with lots of trees that would pose a risk to potential fires.

“By putting these grants forward, the provincial and federal government help pay for fire safety in our community.” says Scott Nelson, Williams Lake Councillor.

“We’ve already done three areas, and there’s another four or five areas to do, so this just helps to fire safe our community.”

Ways that the city is going about this, is by installing sprinklers to the roofs of homes.

Nelson added that the city has already got a plan in place, but it’s just putting the money in place to finish them off.
