Good Turn Out for The Williams Lake Volunteer Mural

Today (September 17th) was the day Volunteers across Williams Lake and the surrounding area could make their mark on the volunteer mural.

Around 100 volunteers have already placed their hand on the mural, with some waiting since 9:00am to place their hands on it.

“I really enjoy the fact that we’re able to have volunteers actually be able to participate, come down, put their hands on the wall, be apart of the whole process.” says Dwayne Davis, Artist for the volunteer mural.

The mural had been in the works for some time now, with it only being finished earlier this week, before the handprints went on.

“I barely slept last night. I was a little nervous about the weather and how it would all come together, but I am very relieved now.”

There are plans to turn the mural into a volunteer hub to have different events to promote volunteering in the spring.

The event began at 10:00am and will go until 3:00pm.
