A series of prescribed burns are planned in several areas west and south of Williams Lake to restore Cariboo-Chilcotin grassland.
Al Neal, Provincial Ecosystem Restoration Specialist says fire is an important element in ecosystems and shares how the burns reintroduce traditional plant communities.
Neal says the controlled burns will be conducted with the assistance of the Wildfire Management Branch and Cariboo Fire Centre personnel.
The controlled burns are planned in the areas of Bald Mountain, Deer Creek, and Crow’s Bar until Nov. 15.
