Quesnel RCMP stats for the second quarter were on display at this week’s North Cariboo Joint Planning Committee meeting.
Staff Sergeant Steve Vrolek noted that their year runs from April 1st to March 31st.
Some of the highlights or lowlights included an increase in break-ins, both residential and commercial, as well as in thefts from vehicles.
There was a drop however in the number of incidents of aggressive panhandling from 23 in 2013 down to 13 this year.
Councillor John Brisco wanted to know what people were allowed to do if approached by an aggressive panhandler…
Vrolek went on to say, however, that how you defend yourself could be judged later as to how measured your response was.
Getting back to the statistics, there was a drop in the number of impaired driving charges and drug offences were also down.
