Environment Canada anticipates strong winds

Expect strong winds to sweep across the Cariboo today.

Environment Canada Meteorologist Doug Lundquist says although the wind will gust up to 90 km/h an hour resulting in possible reduced visibility from blowing snow, things will be looking up for tomorrow.

“Temperature right now (as of 11 pm) is minus one at the airport so it’s entirely a good possibility that we could get a few centimeters of snow,” he said.

“We’re expecting that strong wind to actually bring in some warmer air from the south so we should get up to plus 5 by tomorrow afternoon.”

Lundquist says a powerful storm is currently sweeping across the province and will drench the Vancouver area with more than 100 millimeters of rain over the next 24 hours.

The normal high for this time of year is plus 2.
