Jury Deliberates in Hate Crime Trial

It is day three of jury deliberations at a hate crime trial in Quesnel.

Arthur Topham is charged with two counts of promoting hatred against an identifiable group, in this case, those of the Jewish faith.

Justice Butler gave his charge to the 12-member jury on Tuesday afternoon and they have been going over the evidence ever since.

At issue is whether or not the 67-year old Topham intended to promote hatred in the articles he wrote and with the books that he posted onto his Radical Press website.

The crown argues that it was blatant while the defense maintains that he was simply making statements in the public interest for the public benefit.
