Concerns are Raised for the Cariboo Gold Project

A new proposed transmission line is planned to go through or near communities such as Barlow Creek, Cottonwood, and Troll Ski Hill areas.

With these transmission lines going through communities, some people have started to raise their concerns about the project.

” There are some concerns of increased activity near their private properties where the lines going to be developed.” said John Massier, CRD Vice Chair.

“There’s not a lot of private property that it’s going to effect as where it is mostly over crown land.”

The Line is going to leave Barlow substation. It’ll cross the Barkerville Highway from south to north somewhere around the 11 Mile Hill. The line will also go past Cottonwood River, just before the Cottonwood community. The transmission line will then come into Wells from the north.

Chris Lodder, CEO of Bakerville Gold Mines has agreed to attend Cottonwood Hall on April 11th, to outline their proposal and respond to questions from the communities. That’ll be at 6:00 pm.
