Shriners Club of BC & Yukon to hold Ceremonial Parade in Williams Lake

The Shriners Club of BC and Yukon will be hosting a ceremonial parade in the City of Williams Lake next year-a first for the Club and City in 122 years!

Chief Rabban (Vice President), Steve Whiteside says the Lake City has special meaning to him.

“I was in your stampede parade three years ago and really I fell in love with your City so I came back to Williams Lake a few months later,” he said.

“I met more people and found a partner up here and we opened a new business called Academy of Learning and I decided when I’m President of the Shrine why not bring the ceremonial here to Williams Lake.”

Over 500 people are anticipated to take part in the Ceremonial Parade, which Whiteside says allows the club to get to know the public and attract new members.

“Twice a year we do a ceremonial,” he said.

“One’s always in Vancouver and one is somewhere else and it’s time for us to have a little fun where we’re not actually raising money but we’re out there raising awareness.”

The Ceremonial Parade is scheduled to take place in Williams Lake on May 28.

Rabban says the Club which provides access to pediatric care at their hospitals in Portland, Spokane, and Montreal has helped many children throughout the Cariboo majority of whom required treatment for scoliosis.
