Quesnel Council Leads By Example

Quesnel City Council will once again not be getting a raise.

For the 2nd straight year the Mayor and the six Councillors have decided to lead by example in keeping costs under control.

City Councillor Scott Elliott made the motion to go with a zero percent increase in light of the cuts that they’ve had to make over the past year.

Council indemnities were in line to go up by 1.3 percent which is where the Consumer Price Index was at in September.

That would have added approximately 17-hundred dollars to the total Council indemnities for the City.

As it stands, the Mayor will continue to make $42,665 per year and the 6 Councillors will get $14,638.
