Williams Lake Community Forest accepting grant applications

The Williams Lake Community Forest’s (WLCF) Granting Application window for 2021 is currently open.

WLCF Granting Coordinator Mary Thurow says the grants are aimed towards a variety of organizations, including school/parent advisory councils, community clubs, volunteer fire departments, and sporting organizations.

“The Community Forest doesn’t really restrict how the money is used,” Thurow explains, “applications are graded and reviewed, and if the application is well written and the goals are clearly defined and it suits our program, then we’ll consider it for funding.”

Thurow says the funding comes from the proceeds from operating the two blocks of the WLCF, which is a partnership between the Williams Lake First Nation and City of Williams Lake. She says both partners have agreed to set aside 5% of profits to be able to be distributed annually.

Information on the grant and applications are available on the Williams Lake Community Forest Website.
