COVID-19 cases on the rise in the Cariboo’s local health areas

The BC Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC) is reporting 176 new cases of COVID-19 across the Cariboo’s local health areas between September 26th and October 2nd.

89 of the new cases were in the Cariboo/Chilcotin local health area, 45 were in the Quesnel area, and 42 were in the 100 Mile area.

The week before (Sept. 19th to 25th), there were 126 new cases in the whole Cariboo, 65 in the Cariboo/Chilcotin area, 42 in the Quesnel area, and 19 in the 100 Mile area.

The BCCDC’s latest data shows more Cariboo residents are being vaccinated.

The latest data says 75% of eligible people (12 and older) in the Quesnel and 100 Mile local health areas, and 74% in the Cariboo/Chilcotin area have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, a one percent increase from a week ago for all three regions.

66% of eligible people in the Quesnel area have received a second dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, a two percent increase. 64% of eligible people in the Cariboo/Chilcotin area, and 68% in the 100 Mile area have received their second dose, a one percent increase for both areas.
