Contract awarded for Frizzi Road Storm and Sanitary main replacements

Ironman Directional Drilling has been awarded the contract to replace the Sanitary and Storm mains in the vicinity of the Frizzi Road Landslide.

Williams Lake City Council passed a motion Tuesday (October 5th) to waive Purchasing Policy No. 138, and directly award the contract to the company to expedite the process.

A report to Council by Senior Engineering Technologist Jeff Bernardy says the City has a very positive relationship with the company on past drilling projects, including in the river valley.

The City is providing $510,000 from the Sanitary Reserve and $280,000 from the General Reserve. In addition, the City will be applying for emergency funding.

The City is also waiting on results from a geotechnical evaluation of the area. Six residences in the Green Acres Trailer Park remain under Evacuation Order, while the rest of the Trailer Park Remains under Evacuation Alert. Residents in the area are asked to continue to minimize water use until further notice.

Mayor Walt Cobb also reminds the public to stay away from the area, as it is unsafe.
