Cram The Cruiser Food Drive Another Successful Event

Members of the RCMP in the South Cariboo were out in full force raising donations for the local food bank.

They along with the staff at FreshCo in 100 Mile House were at the store this past Friday from 11 till 3 doing the annual “Cram the Cruiser” food drive.

RCMP Staff Sargeant Svend Nielsen said when the event ended they had filled two trucks with non-perishable food items and took in a large sum of cash donations, about 11-hundred dollars which were converted into gift cards.

“The monetary donations were incredible. We literally doubled I believe, or nearly doubled the last time we did it. That’s a huge help to the Food Bank to get the items they need specifically for people and do their own purchases but also make things easier for them to use to make purchases from FreshCo, it’s just a great thing.”

Nielsen added Police were excited to be able to support the 100 Mile Food Bank which was overwhelmed by the donation.

“Traffic was heavy, it was brisk, and we appreciated everybody’s support for the event.” Nielson said.
