Wranglers burned by Heat in home opener

The 100 Mile House Wranglers were handed a 5-2 loss by the Chase Heat in their first non-exhibition game since March 2020.

After a scoreless first period, Ethan Sanders opened the scoring for the Wranglers, on assists from Chase Vancoughnett-Lafluer and Reid Stumpf. The Heat bounced back with a tally from Keegan Pittendreigh, on assists from Jacob Biensch and Bryan Fraser. The Wranglers regained the lead on a goal from Jace Myers, on an assist from Rory McNabb. The Heat answered back with an unassisted goal from Lucas Ouellette.

It was all Chase in the third period, with three straight Heat goals from Matthew Poole, assisted by Ben Schmidt and Garrett Martin, and unassisted markers from Aiden Brown and Jacob Biensch.

Wranglers Goaltender Casey Thompson took the loss, stopping 38 of 43 shots faced, and was named the 2nd star of the game.
