The BC Wildfire Service and the Ministry of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development will be burning piles of woody debris near Nazko.
These piles were created to remove trees burned in the 2017 North Plateau wildfire. Once these trees have been burnt, new trees will be planted in the area.
Burning is expected to begin on October 4th, and will continue periodically until early spring 2022, as conditions allow.
During these times, smoke may be visible from Nazko and other nearby areas.
