Muscular Dystrophy Boot Drive This Weekend In Williams Lake

Several members of two Cariboo Fire Departments will be busy this weekend doing some fundraising.

The Williams Lake Fire Department along with the Wildwood Volunteer Fire Department will be at several locations throughout the Lake City doing their annual Boot Drive for Muscular Dystrophy.

This 3-day event begins this afternoon (October 1st) at 4:30 and will continue tomorrow and Sunday from noon till 5.

They’ll be set up at Save On Foods, BC Liquor store, Freshco, McDonald’s, Canadian Tire, Tim Hortons, Real Canadian Wholesale, and WalMart.

Williams Lake Fire Department member and Region Advisor for Muscular Dystrophy for the Cariboo, Dereck Sulentich said this boot drive has been going on since 1972 and to date has raised over 325-thousand dollars thanks to the great support shown by Williams Lake and surrounding area residents.

“I can’t say enough about the community and outlying areas,” Sulentich said, “Every year it’s absolutely amazing. I’m blown away by the generosity of the community and the businesses, it’s phenomenal and we just couldn’t do it without them.”
