Last week’s COVID-19 cases up in Quesnel and 100 Mile, down in Cariboo/Chilcotin

The number of new COVID-19 cases in the Cariboo’s local health regions was up again according to the BC Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC).

The BCCDC is reporting 172 new cases of COVID-19 in the Cariboo between September 12th and 18th. There were 117 cases the week before.

77 of the new cases were in the Cariboo/Chilcotin local health region, 76 were in the Quesnel region, and 19 were in the 100 Mile region.

The week before, there were 95 in the Cariboo/Chilcotin, 51 in the Quesnel region, and nine in the 100 Mile region.

The BCCDC’s latest data shows 73% of eligible people (12 and older) in the Quesnel and 100 Mile regions have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, a one percent increase in both regions. 72% of eligible people in the Cariboo/Chilcotin have received their first dose as well, a two percent increase from a week ago.

The BCCDC’s latest data shows 65% of eligible people in the 100 Mile region, 63% in the Quesnel region, and 62% in the Cariboo/Chilcotin region have received a second shot, a one percent increase for each region.
