Wranglers open training camp in 100 Mile House

Wrangler hopefuls hit the ice at the South Cariboo Rec Centre over the weekend.

“It was a great weekend, I was happy we had two small teams which allowed us to run a few practices,” said Coach Dale Hladun.

Two teams were evaluated for the game situation and Hladun says they showed great improvement.

“I was evaluated from the two camps, Friday and Saturday, and noticed the kids have improved by leaps and bounds. You know just confidence in what they were doing.”

A lot of the players who tried out came from combining the farms in Manitoba.

Hladun says he wasn’t worried about the team’s structure yesterday.

“Since some of the kids came from there they didn’t have some training for a few years so, we weren’t worried about setting up structures knowledge.”

Hladun says for most of their game on Sunday against Princeton his team was shut down.

“It was 1-0 for the majority of the game but then they tied it. It became 3 to 1 and then they tied it again, then we scored the winning goal and it was quite a character chain.”

This weekend was a very good team-building weekend.

“I still have more kids coming, there’s going to be more tryouts,” said Hladun.
