Fortis BC announced today (Friday) that it has received the green light from the BC Utilities Commission to increase rates by $1.00 per gigajoule on October 1st.
The company says that amounts to about 8 dollars per month for the average customer.
Fortis says the reason for the change is an increase in market demand.
The next scheduled review will be in December.
