City of Quesnel’s Let’s Connect Community Tour on hold

The City of Quesnel has postponed the event due to the situation with COVID.

Mayor Bob Simpson says it was done until they can find a window to hold it that people will feel comfortable participating in.

“We could legally hold it even under the current regulations, but with the new passport still being implemented, the COVID numbers still going up, we felt it was the best choice for us to postpone it at this time.”

It was planned for Saturday, September 18th.

Here, Mayor Simpson explains what it was all about.

“We’ve done a number of projects and community improvements over the last couple of years that we haven’t had a chance to do the normal grand openings for so people can actually see what we’ve been doing.   For example all of the renovations and the upgrades to the Visitor Centre and Museum, the new Food Innovation Hub, some of the work that we’ve been doing around the community, for example Spirit Centre and the improvements that we’ve done there, Public Works.”

Simpson says they still plan to get the information out.

“We are going to put all of the information that we were hoping to share with the community into an online format, and have people take a look at all of the projects that have been going on in our community over the last couple of years, and we are going to prepare a householder with some of those details.”

He says they were also planning to unveil a new online engagement tool at the community event called “bang the table.”

Simpson says it will now be launched later in the fall.
