Three contract workers test positive for COVID-19 at Barkerville Gold’s Wells site

The company states on its Facebook page that the workers were in the process of beginning their rotation, and were tested as they arrived on site yesterday. (Monday)

It says the affected workers and their direct contacts are now in quarantine.

The company says one of the workers is showing symptoms of fatigue and aches, while the other two are asymptomatic at this point.

Barkerville Gold also states that the employees had potential interactions with the community as well, as they were staying at the Jack O Clubs General prior to arriving on site for their shift.

The company says the owner of the Jack O Clubs has taken steps to quarantine their other employees, and has approached Barkerville Gold to provide testing which they have done.

Barkerville Gold’s Medical Director has been notified, and they have notified Northern Health.

The company is now working with its Medical Director and is following their guidance to manage the presumed positive cases and their direct contacts.
