Accident on the Nazko Highway claims a life

Quesnel RCMP and the BC Coroners Service are investigating a fatal single vehicle crash.

Staff Sergeant Darren Dodge says they were called to the 2400 block of the Nazko Highway just west of the Blackwater Road at around 5-10 this (Friday) morning.

“Members arrived and it was revealed that a Ford F-350 pickup had been heading eastbound toward Quesnel when it left the roadway ejecting the sole occupant of the vehicle.”

Dodge says Emergency Health Services were quick to arrive on scene but the driver, a 29-year old male from the Quesnel area, unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.

The man’s name has not been released.

Dodge says they have determined a possible cause.

“The accident is still under investigation, but early investigation indicates that fatigue may have played a role.”

Both lanes of the Nazko Highway are now open.
