99 new COVID-19 cases reported in the Cariboo last week

The BC Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC) is reporting an increase in new COVID-19 cases in the Cariboo’s local health regions from last week (August 22nd to 28th).

66 of the new cases were in the Cariboo/Chilcotin local health region, 22 were in the Quesnel region, and 11 were in the 100 Mile House Region. The week before (August 15th to 21st), there were 44 in the Cariboo/Chilcotin region, 12 in the Quesnel region, and 6 in the 100 Mile House region.

The BCCDC’s latest data also shows an increase in vaccinations in the Cariboo. 69% of eligible people (12 and older) have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine in the Quesnel and Cariboo/Chilcotin local health regions, and 71% in the 100 Mile House region.

There was also an increase in second doses across the Cariboo. 59% of eligible people in the Cariboo/Chilcotin and Quesnel regions and 64% of eligible people in the 100 Mile House region have received their second dose.
