Registered Nurse seeks to raise funds for device that allows parents more time with their stillborn baby

A registered nurse in Williams Lake is continuing to seek funds for a cooling device which could benefit many Cariboo parents suffering the loss a newborn.

Sheri Stahl, who works at the Cariboo Memorial Hospital says she started the Go Fund Me page for a cuddle cot after a seeing a similar campaign launched in Kelowna.

“Basically I’ve worked in the hospital for a little while and I know, unfortunately, stillbirths do happen and I think it’s just a nice thing for families to have that option because it does allow them more time with their baby.”

Stahl says she is hoping to get more support for the device which would be the first at the hospital by raising awareness through posters at various upcoming Christmas fairs.

18 people as of Oct. 21 have so far raised a total of $810 dollars since Stahl launched the campaign in July.

A single cuddle cot costs $3,500.
