A historically close finish to the electoral race in the Kamloops-Thompson-Cariboo riding saw the once poll leading New Democrats finish second to the incumbent Tories.
Justin Trudeau ran a great national campaign says NDP Candidate Bill Sundhu who admits that a wave of Liberal support was hard to overcome
“The Liberals and Justin Trudeau ran a very good campaign nationally, and what happened is that we got caught up in the Liberal wave across the country – and that wave came right through this riding and then we got a considerable vote split.”
Conservative Cathy McLeod took the riding with 35 percent to Sundhu’s 31 and Liberal Steve Powrie’s 30 – which represented a 25 percent increase over the Grits numbers from 2011.
