Students Give Conservative Candidate Passing Grade

Quesnel students, like their parents, voted in a Conservative Member of Parliament in an election held yesterday at Correlieu Secondary School.

Todd Doherty received 125 votes to beat out Liberal Tracey Calogheros who had 86.

Richard Jaques of the Green Party did better at the school taking third place with 72 votes.

It should be noted that the top three candidates along with Adam De Kroon of the Christian Heritage Party were the only ones to attend an all-candidates forum at the school.

De Kroon was 5th in the voting with 37 just behind the NDP’s Trent Derrick in 4th with 60.

Rounding things out were Gordon Campbell of no affiliate with 18 votes and Independent Sheldon Clare with 17.

There were 39 rejected ballots in the school’s election.
