Salvation Army reminds individuals to think of the less fortunate this Thanksgiving

While many Cariboo families will be sitting down to a Thanksgiving meal this weekend there will be just as many who will rely on that dinner coming from elsewhere.

Pastor and Executive Director of the Williams Lake Salvation Army Ben Lippers expects to see a rise in the number of people who will be coming to them this Thanksgiving Monday.

“In the last few months, we’ve seen our numbers increase in our feeding program so there is either more people in town or people who have crossed that bridge where they’re finding it tight.”

Lippers says to feed everyone they usually cook 6 to 7 turkeys and a whole lot of vegetables.

He says they are anticipating on serving 150 people and that volunteers are always needed and welcome when the dinner starts this Monday at noon.
