New Equipment Coming for 100 Mile House

Physical resource workers for the District of 100 Mile House will have a couple of new toys to play with for the coming winter season.

District council approved the purchase of both a Backhoe-loader and a Bobcat “Toolcat” at a cost of roughly 180,000 dollars.

The cost isn’t an issue says Mayor Mitch Campsall, who says replacing equipment is exactly why the district has contributed to an equipment reserve fund.

We’re, again, paying cash. We’re not going into debt for this, so kudos to staff for ensuring that we have the finances to do this. Also to the work council has done to make sure that we pay for everything in cash.

The backhoe-loader – which accounted for the bulk of the cost – was a necessary expenditure as the current unit had topped out its usable hours and was unlikely to survive another winter season.
