BC reports 16 new deaths, 656 cases of COVID-19

There are 656 new cases of COVID-19 in BC.

That includes 15 new infections in Northern Health.

The health authority has accounted for 860 cases, with 250 considered active, 33 in hospital and 13 in ICU.

Interior Health saw 83 new cases for a total of 1,833.

535 are considered active, there are now 18 in hospital with four in ICU.

There have been 33,894 total infections across the province with 8,796 considered active.

Of the active cases, 336 people are in hospital and 76 in intensive care.

16 people have died from COVID-19 in the past day, including one person in Northern Health, there have been 457 deaths since the onset of the pandemic.

Since November 1st, 190 British Columbians have died.

Currently, 10,123 people are under active public health monitoring as a result of identified exposure to known cases

So far 23,774 people have recovered, creating a recovery rate of about 70 percent.

“It is a time for all of us to pause, to think about the many people throughout our province, our nation and the world who have been impacted by COVID-19 and other global epidemics. It is also a time to think about what we can do to make a difference,” said Doctor Bonnie Henry.

“Without exception, follow the provincial health officer’s orders in place. Remember that events, which refer to anything that gathers people together – whether on a one-time, regular or irregular basis – are not allowed for now. This includes religious, cultural or community events. Do not gather at home with anyone other than your household or core bubble.”

Vancouver: 8,990 (+140)

Fraser: 21,478 (+408)

Vancouver Island: 639 (+10)

Interior: 1,833 (+83)

Northern: 860 (+15)

Prescribed burn scheduled for patch of land within Williams Lake Community Forest

A prescribed burn will be taking place on Dipping Road, 10 kilometres west of Williams Lake, north of Highway 20 along the Fraser River within the Williams Lake Community Forest.

March with Arch honoured at the College in Quesnel

During the presentation, a new short documentary on the March with Arch was shown, followed by Lhoosk'uz Dene Nation elders telling their stories of suriving residential school.
