Train Prevents Quesnel workers from going home

A CN Rail train broke down in Quesnel late Thursday afternoon preventing workers at the West Fraser Sawmill from going home.

Jim Feeney, the Director of Public Affairs for CN, explains what happened…

“We experienced a mechanical malfunction on the one car that caused the train’s automatic braking system to deploy. That also resulted in further malfunction of a knuckle which is basically the connector between one and another.”

Feeney says the knuckle had to be replaced which took about an hour and a half to do.

In the meantime, all of the crossings in town were blocked including the one in front of West Fraser.

All of this happened during a shift change at the mill.
