Tsilhqot’in and CRD take Initial Steps in Relationship Building

It had been in the works since last spring and finally took place on Wednesday with the Tsilhqot’in National Government and Cariboo Regional District engaging in a Community-to Community forum as an initial step in relationship building.

Al Richmond, Chair of the CRD, shares with us what he feels was one of the most important parts of the meeting.

Richmond says he thinks it is important for face to face discussion to take place so greater understanding can be built.

Richmond says one of the topics discussed was emergency management.

The forum, which Richmond says was a positive first step in developing a solid working relationship with the TNG based on mutual trust and respect, also discussed engagement and communication processes, and solid waste management.

The forum began with introductions in an effort to increase understanding of the respective backgrounds, roles, and responsibilities of each individual and concluded by setting the next steps in relationship building.
