A number of motor vehicle incidents this week in the South Cariboo involving wildlife have prompted 100 Mile House RCMP to issue a warning to motorists.
Cpl. Brian Lamb warns that there has been a significant increase in incidents of late
“We’ve had a number of collisions involving animals particularly deer in the Cariboo area throughout pretty much every highway corridor that runs throughout 100 Mile House area. So I would just remind residents to just to be cautious of animals on the roadway and to slow down if you do see them.”
About 10,000 wildlife-vehicle collisions occur each year resulting in about 400 injuries and 5 fatalities according to the BC Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure.
