NDP Candidate Opens Campaign Office in Williams Lake and Quesnel

The federal NDP Candidate for the Cariboo Prince George was in Quesnel and Williams Lake Sunday afternoon opening campaign offices.

Trent Derrick says the reception and turnout have been great.

“I think it’s important that the NDP makes a statement that we are here for all of the ridings,” he says.

“I found out personally that I wanted to have an office here in Quesnel, I wanted to have an office in Williams Lake to say that we’re here to listen to the whole riding.”

Derrick says the economy is the number one concern he has been hearing from constituents, with the rising rate of unemployment, the lagging forestry industry, and $150 billion dollars worth of new debt.

He says the NDP is focusing on strengthening the middle class by lowering the small business tax from 11% to 9% and on manufacturing in the Cariboo Prince George riding.

An all candidates forum, in which Derrick says he will be in attendance, takes place on Thursday at the Williams Lake Thompson Rivers University Campus starting at 7 pm.
