Building permit for new daycare signed

Construction for new daycare will soon be beginning on Western Avenue in Williams Lake.

Executive Director of the Women’s Contact Society Irene Willsie signed on Monday a building permit for the new facility which will be open 7 days a week from 5 am until midnight.

She says they have an opening target date for February.

“We are going to be starting construction here in the next three to four weeks,” Willsie said.

“It’s gone into the planning department and that process takes a couple of weeks and as soon that permit is granted we’re actually ready to move on construction. So we’re hoping for a very mild fall and that the weather will be cooperative.”

Willsie says the daycare which will provide 78 new spaces up to a total of 105 will provide more than 20 jobs for the community.
