City looks at creating free parking near College of New Caledonia campus

Starving the ImPark contract.

Quesnel Mayor Bob Simpson says that is the idea behind Council’s decision to create free parking along Campus Way near the North Cariboo Community campus.

Council is protesting the pay parking that the College of New Caledonia has imposed there which has now been handed over to the company ImPark.

Simpson suggested at Monday night’s council meeting that they wait to develop the free parking until after they meet with the CNC President on the 28th, but that won’t prevent them from letting him know what they might do…

“If we could maybe send the report and the tabled motion to the President as an advance on him coming to the meeting so that he understands we have the ability to create fifty-five spaces.”

The cost to develop the 55 spots is about $16,000….$14,500 to remove rocks and trees and add some compact crush gravel and $1,500 to put up some signs.
