BARKERVILLE SET FOR HUGE WEEKEND

The 5th annual Cowboy and Drover Jubilee is taking place at the historic town of Barkerville this weekend.

Manager of Visitor Experience, James Douglas says a lot of the regular performers are back for another year.

“Gordie West, Ed Wall, Bud Webb they will be here, the Hanson Family is coming back they have been really popular over the past few years.”

Douglas adds they will be making a change to admission rates the last two weeks in order to surpass 60 thousand visitors.

“Admission to Barkerville will be by donation just like it was the first two weeks of our season,” he said.

“We are going to bookend it for the last two week as well and hopefully get enough people out to break the record.”

Barkerville has not surpassed the 60 thousand visitor mark since 2009.

Visitation is up 20 percent from last year due to the weather and lower gas prices.
