Jobs and Economy, 2 Biggest Issues Being Heard says Doherty

Conservative Candidate for Cariboo-Prince George Todd Doherty was campaigning in Williams Lake Thursday.

“Jobs and economy,” Doherty said.

“Those are the two biggest issues that we are hearing. People are concerned; our population base is shrinking, it’s aging-our kids are moving on to greener pastures so to speak because there are no educational or occupational opportunities and our families are leaving.”

“We need to bring industry back and some of those opportunities so we can get back to being great.”

Doherty says in terms of what needs to be done to address those concerns, he says he would like to see input from several sources.

“I think we have to get people around the table and have some sound conversations about what are our vision is for our region, what we want to do with the region,” he said.

“When I say around the table I mean regional agencies, I mean First Nations, I mean communities, I mean provincial colleagues as well as federal representation as well and figure out to do so we can capture some of those opportunities that are coming our way.”
