CNC Paid Parking: Committee to take “wait and see approach”

The North Cariboo Joint Planning Committee is taking a wait and see approach when it comes to the unpopular pay parking situation at the College of New Caledonia.

Quesnel Mayor Bob Simpson says they have decided to sit back and see what the impact will be on the neighboring free parking at both the Rec Centre and Alex Fraser Park…

“Now that the students are back, the Committee has decided they want to see what the impact is on those 2 parking facilities prior to us taking any deliberate steps.”

“We don’t meet until after the public meeting with the Board Chair and the President of CNC to see if we can get some resolution to this issue before we take some steps on our public parking spaces.”

Simpson says the City is also looking at providing free parking on Campus Way and on an easement that runs alongside the College.

Ironically, that comes after the College of New Caledonia asked that the City put up “No Parking” signs there.
