Mountview Rejected Again

So much for third time lucky.
A funding request for the proposed Mountview Water and Sewer project in the Central Cariboo has once again been rejected.
The application was made to the Federal Gas Tax Program.
Cariboo Regional District Chair Al Richmond says they are very disappointed…
“I think it is disappointing for the residents that are are having challenges with their wells…that are having some contamination of their wells from a variety of sources.  so for us it has been very frustrating because staff takes time to put  the material together for the grants.”
Richmond says it is a substantial grant request, in the 17 million dollar range, and he says area residents can’t take the project on on their own.
Byron Kemp, the CRD Director for Area E, says wells aren’t the only problem…
“Now we’ve got another problem at the bottom of dog creek road with the landslide there which we’re not sure but may be affecting some of the wells.”
Kemp says they will likely try again for some help from senior governments.
The application was also rejected in 2013 and 2010.
