Readers in the Cariboo have reason to celebrate.

The Cariboo Regional District libraries are now providing a curbside service to patrons. The CRD libraries closed due to COVID 19 back on March 17th. The buildings themselves will remain closed, but bookworms can go online to the library website and choose books and materials for pickup. The library will then phone to arrange a pickup time. 100 Mile, Williams Lake, and Quesnel branches began the service Tuesday, June 9th. Rural branches that can, will follow suit on June 22.

The libraries will also be offering a virtual reading club over the summer. Pickup of materials will be no contact, and returns will be through the branch book drops.

The BX Morning Show


I first got into radio when I was a kid when a friend and I made our own radio shows on cassete tapes. Growing up in 100 Mile House, I did a workstudy at this very station.

Thanks to some good advice from my radio mentor Larry Rode, I got a certificate in broadcast arts in 1991. After failing to break into radio after school, I did other jobs but kept my hand in, working as morning host and program director at my universitys station, WUFK in Fort Kent, Maine.

Coming back to 100 Mile, when the afternoon and news job opened up, I took the dive back into radio! When Larry retired after nearly 35 years in 100 Mile, I took over the morning show. I’m happy to be at CKBX, where I always wanted to work, and waking up my hometown!

Mary Sjostrom, Director of Electoral Area A for the Cariboo Regional District, passed away suddenly on Tuesday morning. Mary spent decades in public serivce as a City Councillor then the first female Mayor of Quesnel before being the Director for Electoral Area A of the Cariboo Regional District, on top of being a member of countless committee boards across the region.

Prescribed burn scheduled for patch of land within Williams Lake Community Forest

A prescribed burn will be taking place on Dipping Road, 10 kilometres west of Williams Lake, north of Highway 20 along the Fraser River within the Williams Lake Community Forest.
