Tourism continues to be on the rise in the South Cariboo, giving hope that there may be some bounce back from weak overall job numbers.
August saw more than a 23% rise in the number of visitors to the region; a phenomenon not unique to the Cariboo says the Manager of the South Cariboo Visitor Info Centre, Julie Gilmour
“Our numbers this year all over British Columbia have increased,” she said.
“So it’s nice to see that tourism is on the rise again and people are out and about traveling and staying in our area generally a little longer than they were last year.”
The August numbers saw an increase of almost 1500 people when compared to 2014.
