Evacuation Alert Issued For 150 Mile House-Borland Creek Area

Update…531PM

Chris Keam Manager of Communications for the Cariboo Regional District said the Alert was sent out this afternoon at 3:30.

“We issued an Evacuation Alert, just an Alert, for 29 addresses around the 150 Mile neighborhood, around Pigeon Road is where most of the homes are located, residents that live along Pigeon Road, some people in Sugar Cane, so it is impacting certainly some people with the Williams Lake Indian Band”

Keam also explained the difference between an Alert and Oder.

“An Evacuation Alert is just to let people know that there’s a situation that’s evolving near where they’re at. It’s certainly not an order to leave right away but its an Alert and the advice at that point is to be prepared in case we do need to issue that order and get people out because there would be a risk to their safety”.
