Forest Fiber Report Expected to be released early next month

A report recommending changes that have the consensus of the forestry industry towards utilization of the fiber supply will soon be released.

“The group is working on an implementation plan-so it’s one thing to the have the recommendations it’s also putting the plan forward as to how you would implement it, what can you do right away, what may take a regulation change or policy adjustment so we’ll have sort of have a staged implementation plan as part of the report that comes forward.”

“There’s a lot of concerns that we’re still leaving too much fiber in the bush  not being utilized when everybody is facing challenges on the overall timber supply.”

Thomson was in Williams Lake Thursday morning.

He says another major issue which part of the discussions on the province’s forestry industry, is working through the ongoing partnerships and relationships with First Nations in terms of providing certainty of the land base for all the resource operations.

He’ll be in Lac La Lache, meeting with ranchers and residents tomorrow.
