Cariboo Regional District Closes The Share Sheds In Williams Lake

Share Sheds at the Central Cariboo Transfer Station on Frizzi Road in Williams Lake are closed.

Tera Grady, Supervisor of Solid Waste Management for the Cariboo Regional District said they are quite heavily used by the public and that the health and safety of the public and their staff remains a top priority.

“We’re just taking the precaution of closing it so we don’t encourage more people to be at the site than necessary. We’d like people only to be using the facility if they have to drop off garbage and not frequenting the site for unnecessary reasons”.

Grady added “We are officially going to close up the Lac La Hache Transfer Station Share Sheds tomorrow (Friday). It’s the only other one in the District that’s quite large in size and also draws large numbers of the public”.

For the rest of the share sheds, “They’re all fairly small, all of those sites don’t receive a lot of traffic”, said Grady, “We’re just relying on people to be socially responsible and look after themselves, their neighbors, family, and friends, and not visit these Transfer Stations and Landfills unless they absolutely have to be there”.

We will continue to monitor the situation closely and make appropriate adjustments as recommended.

The Cariboo Regional District reminds the public if you need to reach them you can contact them over the phone, the internet, and social media channels.
