Williams Lake RCMP investigating incident on Windmill Crescent

The Williams Lake RCMP is investigating a serious incident that left one injured.

Inspector Jeff Pelley said police received a call at approximately 6:07 pm on Sunday from emergency health services requesting assistance in regards to an individual that had been possibly assaulted in the first block of Windmill Crescent.

“Officers responded and it was determined a male was unconscious,” Pelley said. “Members attended to offer first aid as well as sorting out the circumstances. Throughout the course of the investigation, the individual was transported to hospital and treated for injuries and later released.”

As the investigation progressed, Pelley said it was determined that the incident was very serious.

“It was determined to be a familiar assault,” he added. “We believe the parties do know each other.”

Before any charges are recommended Pelley said a scene assessment, interviews, and a complete investigation must be complete.

“The investigation is in its preliminary stages,” he said.
