Bjornstrom First Williams Lake Mayoral Candidate

The first mayoral candidate in Williams Lake has filed his papers.

John Bjornstrom, or as some perhaps may better know him as the Bushman of the Shuswap, filed his papers Friday afternoon.

Bjornstrom says if elected, he would like to bring more business, specifically manufacturing, to the Lake City down area.

“It’s starting to become a ghost town in the downtown core. I see businesses close their doors after 10 to 20 years of being there. It does need to be revitalized somehow, and I think the only way that it’s really going to be done is bringing in some manufacturing to the area.”
Bjornstrom adds as Mayor, he would also like to see the City of Williams Lake safer to walk at during night and allow residents to see exactly what their tax dollar is doing.
Bjornstrom says although some may call his past questionable, all of his skeletons are out of the closet.
“I have got it all in the open, there is nothing more to go after. If anything, I’ve got lots of experience in many different things to actually add to future development.”
Bjornstrom was arrested in November of 2001 after a two year run from police as the Bushman of the Shuswap and pleaded guilty to charges including breaking and entering.

Bjornstrom says whether he wins or loses, he is happy he got his papers in on time as he was late doing so during the last civic election.
