Price of Gas Jumps 12 cents in 100 Mile House, Now 2nd Highest in BC

It was a rude awakening for South Cariboo motorists today as gas prices in 100 Mile House currently stand at 135.9 – 2nd highest in the province.

Mayor Mitch Campsall didn’t mince words when asked about the situation

We are being gouged. We’re the highest prices in the province with the exception of Logan Lake – which is a difference of two cents. But it’s horrible. I’m not sure what can be done, but we’ll (council) be writing letters to the provincial and federal government.

Though incensed by the twelve cent price hike, the mayor was quick to point out that it isn’t the local station operators that set the prices, but rather the larger companies.

The gas prices aren’t the local merchants doing it. It’s the big oil companies. We need to make sure we aren’t picking on the local guys when it’s the big companies doing it.

The price of gas seems even more shocking as the price of oil continues to slide – another 76 cents so far today – to a six and half year low
