Pedestrian killed in South Cariboo collision

Update 10 a.m.: A female pedestrian is dead after being struck by a vehicle in the 105 Mile House area Thursday evening.

North District RCMP Cpl. Madonna Saunderson says 100 Mile RCMP responded to the incident on Highway 97 near Back Valley Rd. south of 108 Mile at 5:56 pm.

“She [pedestrian] was pronounced dead at the scene,” Saunderson said. “Impairment is not believed to be a factor.” 

Highway 97 was closed as a result of the collision.

A vehicle incident closed Highway 97 just south of 108 Mile for several hours Thursday night.

RCMP, BC Ambulance, and both 108 and 100 Mile Fire rescue were dispatched. According to Drive BC, the highway was closed near Dawson Road at about 6 pm and reopened at 11 pm.
